Default laptop stops responding

i jave a compaq evo n610c and i am having a problem with cause it freezes about 3 times a week. i know thats not alot but its really annoing when i am typing a documents. what could be the problem? i bought a "CHILL PAD" thinking it was just getting hot but it still does it. what can i do?

well my guess would be if its nto the temp and it freezes and it use to work good, its probably some messed up files or to many background programs something that could possible make your computer usage go up. whats your cpu and how much ram you got?

i have 1.80ghz pentium 4 mobile processor and i had 512mb of ram until monday when i added anotrher 512mb so now i have a 1gig.

k well the computer specs themsleves are plenty good, maybe try a disc defragment it supprisingly can help alot, it doesnt mess up any files on your comp or anything it just like sorts and compacts. start, programs, accessories, system tools, disc defragment

and it always good to run a spyware oprogram at least weekly
best spyware programs
Spybot search and destroy
Adaware SE personal edition

Could always be failing hardware... RAM, harddrive, etc. Go to event log(right click My Computer and MANAGE, Performace and Logs, Event Log) and see if there's anything with an "!" by it.
