I know nothing about laptops first of all.
I have a 6 month old HP Pavillion DV5000 and am going to Europe for a month. Was just wondering what I need to use my lap top (ie power converter, power cord....) Thanks for the help. |

Silver, don't ask question in someone's forum...
MacB - Look on your power addaptor for your laptop. If it says 100-240v 50-60Hz, you're fine. If it just says 100-120v 60Hz(or something like that) that's just for the states. Most electronics are fine world wide...

Yeah... Eh, I don't beleive you can use that over in Europe without some other kind of power converter. Unfortunetly, the cheaper ones aren't made to use many watts nor are they suppose to be used for more than say 15 minutes...
You probably saw the right thing, but just in case, here's a picture of my laptop's power addaptor. I have used it in London... I must say I'm quite suprised yours doesn't say 240v... My PDA, digital camera, video camera, laptop(both new and old) and Cell phone all have been compatable world-wide needing nothing more than a plug converter.

Ah...so it says 100-240v and 50-60Hz? If it has one, it should have the other, but best to double check
![]() All you'll need is either another cord or just a plug converter. You'll need to find out exactly what is used in the area you're going to, but I used something like this... http://cgi.ebay.com/AC-POWER-ADAPTER...QQcmdZViewItem (the large 3 pin one to the left...)
