unless you have a 24mb connection i would burn it to dvd and send it in the post - it will probably be faster.

its proabbly too big for an email attachment, the email server would die.

i would maybe upload as a torrent and get ur grandfather to start dling it.

there are also services on the net such as www.yousendit.com but i cant find any which handle over 1 gig.

remember uploading 3 gig is gonna take time, and dling it will take time.

have u thought of compressing the home movie?

You could use direct connect on limewire.

Not even gmail has that big of a mail box Not that you can email anything over 10 megs anyways...

But yeah, find your gramps IP address and direct connect over limewire, but be prepared cause it can take a lonnnggg time (depends on your upload speed and his download speed). Or you can do what the other one said, upload it on youtube or google video or something, but it will greatly reduce the video quality and it will be in little chunks.

I would suggest splitting the movie into parts and uploading it to a site like Box.net where you can upload 1GB files for free.
