Lightbulb How much better is a dual core CPU than Dual CPU MOBO's?

OK so with a dual Core CPU you get great performance, but You can also get a dual CPU MOBO, A Triple CPU MOBO, and yes, even a Quadruple CPU MOBO. And with the use of 3CPU's or more you can use up to 32GB of RAM! So I ask you, Wouldn't you get more performance and enough extra attachments to keep your Computer out of the obsolete area if you got something like this???

No, well everything goes obselete so fast anyway. No but really just get a quad cpu mobo, with dual core xeons that have HT enabled, then you have 16 logical cores lol. No the thing is it is so much more expensive, and by the time you got to the point where everything would be upgraded all the way, new technologies would be out. Yes it would last longer then the average comp today, but putting in 4 $500+ cpus and 32GB of ram at like $100 per gig, its very expesive comp, its really a server but its just not really worth it for most.

thats like asking

why get a pinto when you can get a ferrari

its just not worth it

you won't have anythign that yo possibly would want to do that would need 4 CPU's unless your doing a nice server

Well, its like having a home super computer. Its like if your, oh lets say a government special personal (or maybe OSAMA) and need to compute to make a hi tech weapon thing and can do it in the base, rather than go to a super computer, It would make since to get it. Or if your Freaking rich that works too...

You would need so many of the 8 core rigs to even come close to a super computer though. Ya but if you have a few mil lying around why not.

Server type mobo's/cpu's are great if you use alot of rendering programs, but if you're playing games, a majority of games are only going to use one core, on one of the CPU's, so they extra CPU's/Cores will be going to waste.

Not to mention that you can get better single/dual core CPU's, mobo's, and RAM that are designed for gaming, that will work much better then server mobo's.

Excellent point. Ya because multiple cpu mobo's aren't made like regular comp mobo's. However they are still high performance and it seems like more and more dual cpu mobo's are being made for the average person. I think even like ASUS has one that supports 2 cpu's and sli, its still more of a workstation mobo but, it would still rock.
