Default What CPU

what cpu should I get for about 250-300 I really can't make up my mind between a athlon and an intel, as for the intel the prices are a little steep, is it a better idea to wait a month, maybe two until they go way down. Thanks for the help, I've been searching newegg....

If you can wait awhile for the prices to go down i would get the Core 2 Duo. Otherwise if you dont want to wait the Athlon X2's are cheap and are still good processors.

Well, what would be the point in spending $250 on an X2 when you can buy a E6300 for $30 cheaper, and get better performance?

If you want to buy a CPU now, either go with the Allendale E6300, or the Conroe E6600
