OK, for the longest time I thought this was only for voice chatting. I didn't realize you could make actual phone calls using it

My mentor was talking about it, making free calls when he gets pages and what not at work.

Wow, so I stick it on my PDA and make a quick call to my house. It works. Now then, HOW'S it work? Not technically. I want to know if this program is actually free. I know they can't charge "ME" but could I basically be making a collect call and charging who ever I call?

Nope, it's a VOIP service and it is free until december then if you want to use it you have to pay a service fee to skype. The people you call will not be charged!

Skype is great, the only complaint I have with the free version is that it can't take incoming calls from a landline telephone. But besides that, it's great. I've made a few calls and they sound really good for VOIP.

It's also great for prank calling, since *69 wouldn't be a problem.

Its cool that Skype is available for Americans and Canadians until the end of the year for calling people, but too bad i'm on dialup
