I have a question regarding IP addresses. I don't really know much about them so bear with me. When you sign up for a forum such as this, the moderator will know your IP address, correct? Well, what if the person were to go to another state and sign in under the same account? Wouldn't the IP address be different?

Your IP address depends on where you are. Every computer in your house that has the same internet connection wil have the same IP. However, within the network in your house, each computer will have a different IP to identify itself within your network, but your network only has one IP for the rest of the world.
In your own home network, an IP will always be 192.168.x.x. btw, is that your pic in your avatar? I hope so, cause we need more female members.

oh okay
My friend is a moderator of a website and she said it doesn't change. Although, wouldn't the moderator be able to tell when the person's IP address changes or when it stays the same?

Haha, speak for yourself.
Anyways, you have two different Ip addresses when you are behind a router. External and internal. Your external Ip address is what the world sees, and your internal is what your router assigns to each computer (DHCP). Your internal changes but usually stays along the lines of 192.168.X.XXX. Your external Ip address always stays the same however. Quote:
Hope this helps
