Default To flash my bios i have to get into DOS..

Well.. my motherboard has the r1.01 bios, however i need r1.08 or higher ( latest is r1.12) so my mobo supports dual core processors.
anyhow.. i know how to flash my bios,.. i just dont know how to get there.

on the website they told me to make a bootdisk ( with a link to the microsoft download page) i downloaded the program to make a bootdisk, turns out it cant run under win xp pro x64.
so,.. i popped imn a 20 GB HD, and installed win xp pro on it, since there wasnt a x64 program to make a bootdisk.
when i ran the program, its asked me for new floppy disk's to be inserted, so in the end, i had 6 floppy's wich are my boot disk.

i restart my pc,. and when it loaded all 6 floppy's.. i have 3 options.. instal win xp, repair win xp and exit setup. anyway.. in the end of all those 3 steps.. the pc restarts, no DOS.. :/

so.. anyone has an idea how to get there? because i tried a bit around, but no luck so far.

oh yes,.. the line i need to run is
A:/awdflash k8sli112.bin ( K8SLI is the mainboard name, and 112 is the version)

Forgive me if this is blatantly obvious and you've already done it, but have you set the floppy drive as the first boot option?

Also, why did you need 6 floppys for the image?

yes, the floppy is the first boot drive, but i made a Win Xp boot-disk ( wich is 6 floppy's)
however,.. i found something ( by accident to be honest), when you want to format a floppy, cou have the option to make it a MS-DOS bootdisk, i made one of those, added the bios on that disk, and i could flash it.
my mobo has R1.12 now.. but it seems that the overclocking capabilities went down because of it.
when i set the fsb back to 300MHz, it keeps resetting, i cant go over 250 anymore now it seems

The 6 disks where actually intended for people who can't boot up from a CD, since some optical drives can have difficulties with bootable CD's. Like my LG CD/DVD drive.

If you've made your BIOS update floppy disk, what you do is put THAT floppy into your drive and then switch on your PC. The PC will boot from the BIOS update disk. Then follow the instructions shown on the screen. That's how I did mine.

Just for the record (and I'm glad you solved your problem), XP doesn't have DOS. That's why you ran into the problem. Windows Me was the last OS built on DOS. XP is built on the NT kernel.
