Ok.. When we get a virus on our computer, We usually take it down to a place called "Rent-a-geek" and they reinstall our system and backup all of our documents. Well, I am thinking about buying a External Hard Drive and thats what they use to Reinstall the OS. How do i do this? How do i reinstall windows and saving all of our docuemnts but deleating the virus? In other words.. How can i reinstall it removing the virus and keeping our documents. I kno how to backup the docs and stuff, Just dont kno how to reinstall it while removing the virus.
Any help appreciated!!! THANKS!

This is kinda a vague question. Do you have a install disk? Do you know where the virus is? What files do you need? Have you tried scanning with a virus scanner and malware scanners to remove it. It seems it would be a lot easier to simply keep an uptodate virus scanner and malware scanner ant not reinstall every time you get a virus... Just my opinion though..

Hey brandon, I would reccomend when it gets slow to go download ccleaner and run that as well as adaware and spybot and also a virus scanner they will work wonders for a slower running computer

Buy a full installation disk and solve your labor charge problems by reformatting the drive and installing a fresh copy of Windows you own onto the drive. Once you have a fresh machine to work you can run a variety of virus, malware, spyware, and adware tools along with a good firewall. To see what files are infected and by what virus run AVG 7.1 Free edition on your system there. That can be readily downloaded at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Another pair of great freewares to grab are Ewido and AdAware SE Personal. What one misses the other removes for you. Lavasoft's AdAware can be found at http://www.lavasoft.com Grisoft recently added to their list of AVG products with the free spyware remover Ewido at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/ewido-an.../lng/us/tpl/v5 |

XP full install disks are available for just over $80 at some sites. How to install XP in 5hrs. or less is one article seen at http://diveintomark.org/archives/2003/08/04/xp
For the full installation version of XP Home edition, https://shop.edirectsoftware.com/cat...ducts_id=16135 |

Just save your My Documents folder. Then, after that, take the HDD apart and write "Windows XP" on the platter with magic marker. :evil grin:
All you have to do is boot from the CD and follow the directions. It is unbelievably simple to do. You should have no problems at all. |
