Default Hard drive upgrade. Help!

I want to up grade my Compaq Presario SR 1053wm hard drive. It has 80GB, I would like to add another 200-300 GB. What information about my comp and HD will I need to get the right one, and how can I get that info?
Thank You;

According to your sig it should work fine. Any brand of HDD will work around that size.

In a computer store today I asked for a hard drive and was asked something like, is it IDE or ATA. I didn't know. With my comp having 2 Ultra DMA 100 IDE connectors and 2 Serial ATA connections can I use either one, or will I need to check my hard drive to see which it is?
Thanks:

You can use either one. I would buy the SATA, because the PATA interface is outdated.

Yeah, the SATA are nice and quick, although I don't notice much of a difference.

there technically is not a notable difference, but SATA is cleaner. (in the case)

I would like to add from 200-300GB HD, and a really good video card. Would I need to change the power supply, fans, or anything?
Thanks;

what is your current psu voltage? you might have to change it out depending on the needs of your new hardware and you could stick a couple of fans to keep it nice and cool
