1) That is illegal

2) Tile is fine

3) All you need is a Phillips

4) Artic Silver is preferred. Just use a smidgeon.

1) NADA! Get a full install version with SP 2 for $80 and have your own.

2) I often set a case on an office chair. A non conductive soft mat will work.

3) A phillips head and a long pair of tweezers or non sharpened pencil with scotch tape to pick up any small drive or other screws that fall inside helps.

4) Artic Silver 5 is a dream come true for the best thermal compound.

5) PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE! Take your time and "double check" all connections.

1.- You need to get WinXP another way *not telling how *
2.- All you need to avoid is static buildup (when ever I build a pc I only have socks on my feet to have good gound.
3.- That and some zip ties, and wire cutters for the zip ties (not needed but a nice thing to have)
4.-dunno

1.) Yes it will work most definitely, although as mentioned above it is illegal, and you most likely wouldn't be able to get updates for it, but it will work. Although we advise against it as it's not as expensive as it used to be .

2.) Building it on a tile floor is fine providing that you don't go rubbing around all over the place. The best earth method available (if you don't own an earth wristband connected to an earthed conductive source) is plugging the power cable ONLY into the power supply (and the wall plug) when the power supply is within the case, keeping the power supply and the wall socket both switched off though, and touching the case on regular occasions (When I build I always keep one elbow against the case at all times, works a treat). This will get rid of most if not all static that may build up within you.

3.) With poking around in my newest computer I have only ever needed one single screw driver, a medium size headed philips. Fits every screw just peachy.

4.) Thats fine, if not better than stock. Although only smear a few small drops onto it, don't use the entire tube.

Not that I'm promoting the use of illegal software but I feel the need to explain the truth. It will work providing he doesnt attempt to update or use any of the free Microsoft software.

The point is we can't advise using other then legal means to install a working copy of Windows XP on any system. XP was released under the terms that there would be a separate installation disk for each machine with the exception of purchasing a license for either 5-15 systems or a corporate license.
