I use Windows because of compatibility but I hold no loyalty to it. I enjoy using linux as well. So far I've found Fedora to be one of my favorites.

Windows because of good/existent DVD encoders and AVI frameserving apps as well as general compatability (and its much more pleasent to do development for windows)

Linux because it runs more smoothly.

Windows, though I would like to experiment with Linux and possibly of dual-boot of those just stated. I have used Mac OSX, and quite franky . I just don't like Mac i general though.

Which operating system do "YOU" prefer

I liked windows 2000 because it was plain and simple, but because Windows XP is later and has more updates I use that.

When I get some time (maybe after Christmas) I think I'll try out Gentoo...

I have seen my friend and others using linux and I found it quite nice to use. However, I find that the amount of software available to Windows users is the strongest point to Windows. I mean I know there are many programs that exist for linux, however, I still believe that Linux is not as straightforward and easy to use as Windows XP for example. Talking about MacOS, I hate it. I am sorry but it's an alternative I personally find very annoying for what I look for...

Linux is probably best for people that want the most out of an operating system. Like for example u can write ur own version of Linux and create all kinds of programs and system tools, windows is just toooooooo constricting for me..

I would recommend Windows for people that just want to check emails and browse net and maybe do some word processing.

To all the other serious techie people u already know which os is the best.
