Default Keyboard and Mouse Lag.. Someone help.

i've been getting this problem lately... everytime my processor speeds up my keyboard lags and misses keys.
If it speeds up beyond a point my mouse goes incredibly slow.
This problem was not present before... so it must be a software problem.
someone please help.
many thanks.

First off, please don't bump a thread after an hour, a day is more acceptable.

Pertaining to your problem, what exactly are you doing when the processor speeds up? And do you have 2 of them?(I'm a little confused by your sig...)

lol the sigs old... its back when i was inexperienced and thought pentium D is the same as the new pipeline processors.
it usually happens when i got frontpage express opened or maybe a movie... mostly with games. buttons skip.
its happening right now as i type. soon as the fan speeds up my keyboard goes slower. i have been using my usb to ide to connect an old hard drive up lately. could be that connecting and disconnecting that causes the problem.
i still dnt knw... my keybord and mouse always hd priority over other things.
its a usb wireless combo.

Why exactly is the fan speeding up? Do you have a temp monitor to see just how hot its getting inside the case? Try to do a diskclean up run defrag and get a program like ccleaner run that and then run adaware and spybot and let us know what the results are.

they were supplied with my computer.
i didn't see a driver with them. and even if they had drivers they were probably already installed. this problem seems hopeless

hmmm just to rule out the problem being that they are wireless....try using a normal wired keyboard or mouse. also when CPU fans start revving up and thing lke that happen, it means the CPU is being heavily used mostly. Hit ctrl+alt+del and go to processes (if you have win2000 or xp) and see if anything has a 99 under the CPU column when it starts happening. Under normal conditions the System Idle Process should have most of your CPU available.
