Default Oc

crap

my birthday is in a week and my RAM just went out of stock

this is what i wanted:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145034

this is the next best thing with timings of 5-5-5-12:

would i be able to jsut OC that RAM to 4-4-4-12, by changing it in the bios and setting the voltage at 2.1 like the sticks that already come that way, without needing any extra cooling or having any conflicts with hardware

You may decide to look over some 3rd party memory coolers for that. The rest will depend on the board you are running primarily. If you can get in there and make adjustments to timings and voltages in small increments you should be alright. Each make and model is a little different there though.

You generally won't need active cooling for RAM unless your running excessive voltages, i.e. above 2.4 V.

I'd say you could. I think Rambo has the same pair, ask him about them if you want.

You should be looking for the memory that is the most compatable with your board. That will have a lot more to do with what memory timings you will see. Some boards will see conflicts from certain brands nad types of memory.

The first thing advised in OCing is to first back everything down. Then you toy with cpu and memory settings alike to gradually bring them up until the system locks to know the max you can get to for this.
