Control pannel > Network Connections > rightclick on whatever connection you're using and go to proporties > Find TCP/IP settings and there you go. Of course, most computers now get their IP's dynamically, so you'd have to be sure you're within the same range.
To check your IP, probably the quickest way is to simply go to start > run > type cmd > then at the command prompt, type ipconfig

Tell the person on the other workstation to go to the website: http://www.whatismyip.com ? Although I'm not sure that, if on a huge network, it gives the IP address of the computer on the network or the actual Internet IP address for that segment.
