too close to a crt?
bad drivers, maybe.
turn off all external sound sources in the sound - bottom rh corner. eg. recording input, aux, etc.. - most likely.

Well, these speakers are pretty old (but i know that's not the reason

) and they were my grandma's....
They are like wires with the rubber bit covering the wire stripped, and you 'clamp' the electrical wire to the metal bit
Basically, i have them connected to this old stereo amplifier thing, and the input is coming from my computer through red and white connectors, into the phono input on it (there are also aux, and tuner inputs). So it's not a case of 'turning off' external sound sources (to be honest, i don't really understand what you mean by that, but i can't see anything to turn off..).
I'll have another look, and keep the help coming

!!
Thanks.
