Default Shut down does not work.

HEy all, when ever i try to shutdown my comp some message from 'Data Execution Prevention' pops up. I have to click shutdown twice in order to shutdown my comp.

The 'Data Execution Prevention' message details:
Name: explorer.exe

i also turned explorer.exe off from the Data Execution Prevention tab under my computer properties, but same thing happens except the DEP message does not display.

Im running XP home SP2.
thanks./

Sounds like a WINDOWS error to me if it is explorer.exe - doubt it could be a virus but you should always check.

I'm pretty sure it means Windows Explorer is doing a task that cannot be shut down until it is completed.

How much processor usage does it use up? Do a Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to processes, then it should say.

Aver boot to your xp cd and do a recovery and let it do the chkdsk /r it will take a while but it may just clean up this problem its worth a shot. It sounds like some files are either missing or corrupt and this option will find and repair them.

Has this problem been going on since day 1 or just recently? You could do a system restore to an earlier point (it won't lose any saved data or anything)..
