Is the problem only with your cd drive? does the floppy drive worlk or a second cd/dvd drive if your have one work? It could be a bad ide/sata cable, your motherboard might be bad. It could be a number of things. Although i have not heard of a virus that attacks drivers. But you say that only your cd burner is having trouble, if a virus did attack your cd burner driver, when you get a new cd burner thats a different brand, it shouldnt attack it, unless it attacks every driver, but everything else was fine. So no, i never heard of a virus that attacks drivers.

And do the CD's that you burn work on another computer?
