Default Video Editing Software

Hi, Two quick questions.

A) Does anyone know of any Video Editing Software that can capture the audio from it? I really need to take the audio from a video clip and put it onto a cd for a class project.

B) What does anyone recommend for video editor software? I have a college project coming up (already this semester) and I need something that can cut, splice, and edit video clips. Unfortunately I really need a program that is free or offers a Trial basis since funds are low.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you to anyone who can.

Default Also..

Oh and I forgot to add, I've tried Windows Media Maker and Honestech but neither seem to offer everything I need.

A) check out this link: http://www.geovid.com/Video_mp3_Extractor - it's free and exactly what you need i guess.
B) as for video editing the best is adobe premier but it's very expensive. i have also presentavid installed on my pc - it has a free trial and 20% discount for students and teachers but it's rather simple. anyway check it out too.
good luck!

A) & B) This can extract the audio file from videos easily and is the best for all your home based video editing with a professional look, if you've got the eye for it.

Unlike Premier, it doesn't use a lot of resources so you don't need a top notch computer. Not to mention it can already extract audio, so you don't need additional software. And to finish off, once you're done with your editing, you can also do some pretty cool stuff when authoring your DVD. Different menus, animated scene selectors, etc.
