Default Hooking Consoles to Computer Help

I bought an xbox 360 and want to use xbox live on it, wirelessly. However, I dont want to shell out 100 bucks for the xbox 360 network adaptor. So, I was thinking about using a computer connected to a router I already have and try to get the xbox 360 to share the connection through the computer.
So far, I have created a primative connection bridge which works good enough to download demos and movies and trailes, etc onto the xbox 360. However, the connection isnt stable so it's almost impossible to play any games on it. i know there are other methods of obtaining a shared connection through the computer, but I'm not sure of how to do them. Also, I'm not exactly sure if it would yield more stable connections.
Is there anyway to get a better shared connection without buying new hardware?

Did you bridge your wireless connnection and your xbox connection? Also, did you turn off your firewall and see if its more stable?

Lol. Wow. I didn't think about turning off the firewall. I'll try that. But yes, the connection is bridged. i just right clicked them and bridged them. I know its primative compared to what could be done. I saw a tutorial on something extremely complicated ont he xbox forums but I think the mods removed it because if everyone did it, then microsoft obviously wouldnt be making money from their networking hardware. lol.
However, about the firewall, the firewall on the router shouldnt pose too much of a problem, should it? Maybe put the computer in the DMZ?
And also, IF turning off the firewall DOES make it more stable, would there be a solution afterwards that would allow me to keep the firewall on and still have a stable connection? ports?

edit: oh. the xbox's ethernet port is connected to the computer's ethernet port and the wireless adaptor is connected via usb FYI

Well, if it's possible replace the USB adapter with something that is internal. The USB connection for the networking is creating a lot of problems as well, more than likely. Don't use USB for internet or any sort of data transfer that needs to be a continuous stream. For printers or other external devices, it works fine since the data is a brief stream. So, again, to reinterate, NO USB NETWORKING!!!

So try to save up for an internal network adaptor and see if that works?
OR!! It's true that certain routers can receive data as well as send, right? Maybe instead should i try to get a router that receives the internet connection and hook both the computer and xbox through the ethernet inputs on the router?
