Does the X2 and Core 2 Duo mean that there are 2 2.4GHz processors in it, or that it is the total of both?

Thanks, and any suggestions that you think will be a good improvement over what I have and will stay ahead of gaming will be much appreciated, AMD or Intel.

Both the cores would run at 2.4ghz, however you dont add them up. So its just 2.4ghz.

The Intel Core 2 Duo would be the best choice over any current AMD cpu.
