Exclamation Upgrading PC

Basically,
Im Upgrading My Computer So I Can Play Battlefield 2 (I sold all my other games so i would have cash to spen on upgrading lol)

At the moment I have:

Intel P4 2.4ghz
512MB DDR - 33Mhz cl 2.5 PC2700
110GB HD
Geforce 4400 Ti

Im Upgrading the ram to 1GB, or even 2 or 3GB If i can save enough
Would a Crucial Radeon X1300 256MB AGP with 1GB Ram and all my other specs run high settings on a game like Battlefield 2????

Or can anyone advise me on another GPU????

Thanks for your time
Adam.

Default Well

I may be wrong, but your system - overall - would rather enjoy a new companion, i.e. a new PC. The x1300 would not be enough as it is an entry card. You would be looking at something better like a x1600Pro from ATI and a 7800GS from Nvidia. However, I do not see that as a wise investment. Also note that AGP is dying and so is the range of graphics cards you can get for it. I would recommend you build a new PC alltogether. You could get a Core 2 Due / AMD X2 setup on the cheap these days. For a game like BF2, that may be your best shot.

yea BF2 needs 2 gigs to run perfectly on max settings...if you're not going for a video card that can run this at the best possible settings then i wouldn't get more than 1 GB of ram and spend more money on the graphics card

Nah, BF2 doesn't need 2 GB of RAM to run smoothly, 1 GB is fine if 200 MB is the max memory amount taken by background programs before running the game.

I ran it perfectly with 1 GB of Corsair VS and a "X850XT" (modded X800GTO2), with an Athlon 64 @ 2.4 GHz, everything maxed out, 1024x768, 6X/16X

When it comes to computers, pacients is the key. If you want something right away, you are going to be stuck with something you don't like. You could build a new computer for about $600. It would max out BF2 no problem.

That new graphics card, and another 512MB of memory, should run BF2 on lowest settings.

Basically, browse the internet, and find out what the minimum requirements for the game are. I think amazon.com has this info with the product somewhere on the page.
