Default Want to liberate space

A year ago I had my flamboyant new P4 with 160 Gb free hard disk. Now I have approximately only 3Gb free, and I'm beginning to feel quite choked. I suspect that there's a lot of junk that is occupying space, my installed programs and archives don't add up to 157 Gb, they occupy a lot less space, so what is causing this cipher? . I tried some shareware junk cleaner program, but it doesnt free much space. I dont know what to do, do you know any program (free if possible) that really can give me back my much needed free space?. Or can you offer me other alternative?

Thanks.

Did you do an error check on the HDD recently. The drive could be reporting the free space incorrectly...

It won't solve your problem, but get CCleaner just because I'll clean out a lot of junk from your registry and cache.

If its windows xp try disabling system restore that should free up some space. Also you could have some rogue page files. Clear all your temporary files, and run chkdsk on your HD to make sure the OS is not reporting the wrong amount of free space.
