Default Inspiron prices rising..why?

Does anyone have any idea why Dell's prices have gone up so much lately? They took off their 30% off 1000+ coupons and replaced them with 200$ off 1000+, plus their prices are higher to begin with. Even ebay's prices on inspirons have gone up!

These are typical ebay auctions that I have on my watch list from awhile ago:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

And nowadays I see them go for over 800

(Note- I am searching for dual core, true life E1405's,)

And on Dells main web page, I could configure everything I wanted for 800 (including a 9 cell battery) after using the 30% coupon, and today that exact configuration is about 80 bucks more. Arent prices supposed to go DOWN with time? Or was it just because of intels price war or whatever?
