i never really use printers but im buying one for somone now..first question is when a cartridge is a Tri-Color will that print black also if im just printing text in black?
cause this is what the one im looking at says Number of ink tanks/cartridges 1 Black ink cartridge HP 100 Gray (C9368AN), optional Color ink cartridge HP 95 Tri-color (C8766WN), included. HP 99 (C9369WN), optional so im assuming that means you can only have one or the other..so what i would really like to is if tri-color prints black also? |

Which printer are you looking at? If it's a portable HP photo printer, then yes it will only take 1 cartridge of either black or tri-color. Otherwise, most HP's are two cartridges, one black and one color.

Yeah, it's only one cartridge, and it doesn't look like it will take a purely black cartridge, either. I also tried to look this printer up on HP's website, and couldn't find it at all, strange...
Here's another option from OfficeMax: http://www.officemax.com/max/solutio...OID=1611313912 It has the capability of using a straight black cartridge, just a little "slower" than the other one. Although without the only black cartridge on the other one, it's pretty useless, unless you are doing only photos or color printing. Anyway, the HP 7850 is $10 cheaper, regular price, and is more cost effective. Plus, it has card readers, if you have a digital camera for easy downloading to the computer or printing.
