after reading the_other_one's post about abandoned places it reminded me of a site i read some time ago, thought i would post a new thread on it rather than hi jack his.
http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/ki.../chapter2.html its a really interesting read with some harrowing pictures, its a journey taken by a couple of bikers as they headed into the fallout area of chernobyl to look at what lies there now. worth a look if you have a few spare minutes

That is indeed a very interesting read. I remember I was a baby and my mom had to take some radioactivity combatting pills along with thousands more pregnant women. I can see the results of Chernobyl on my sister
BTW that's an attempt at a joke. Mind you, back then my country was communist and people found out way too late for these pills to have worked. I know my mom's friend's daughter died when they were close-by at the time, enjoying their vacation. The daughter died from leukemia... about a year after the accident.![]() Above a picture of what it looked like after the accident... JAN

You can certainly see why there are so many people against nuclear power in general, at present in the UK there's an ongoing high-profile debate on the issue.
It's so sad, and the good people are still having to live and will have to live with the effects for years to come. |

its quite harrowing to read and see the devestation it caused to the area...odd to see no real physical damage just deserted areas, inhabitable due to the invisible radiation
