Default Can't get DVD burner to work! Please help!

Hello!
I have a Compaq Presario SR1910NX computer that has a burner but I can't seem to get the burner to do DVD's. I have made several CD's but whenever I put a blank DVD in, it tells me to insert a blank writeable disk and try again!! ARGGGHHH!!! Can anyone help me? I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Did you install the drivers/software that may have come with it? What kind of DVDs are you using, +R, -R?

Default DVD burner troubles

Thanks for the reply.
This is a brand new computer that we have had for less than a month. I don't recall anything coming with it that needed to be installed. For CD's, we are using SONY CD-R and for DVD's we are using MAXWELL DVD-R. Thanks.

You need to tell it in the drive properties to switch from CD/Rs to DVDs. At least that's usually the way it works.
