Default Asus 7900GT

When I start overclocking it... (No idea how, but that's a different issue)

How hot is too hot on this card? Right now it's at 54-55C... Threshold is at 125.

Where is the safepoint?

90C is where you past the safe point. After that your card is prone to failure.

Is a 35 degree difference leave a lot of room for overclocking?

We cannot tell how will your gfx card react on OC'ing, it's best for you to try step by step and checking the temps now and then.

54C - 55C idle or load? My video card with a fanless heatsink idles at like 40 and shoots up to 75C while gaming. Also, what do you mean by a 35C difference? Did the temperature go up by 35C after you OC it? Cause that's a pretty big jump..

Nah, he meant if it will jump to 90°C when he overlclocks so he wanted to know if it's safe, he idles around 55°C (55+35=90) Motoxrdude said 90°C is where he pasts the safe point.

35C is a great buffer zone for overclocking, but a bad one for overvolting. just dont solder it and you'll be fine haha
55C is actually kind of high, i dont think my 7900gtx ever hits temps like that... then again its got a huge stock cooler on it that has 4 huge heatpipes on it and stuff...

Playing CS Source right now and it's at 58 degrees after about 3 minutes.

64C after like 10 minutes... and that's right after a shooting scenario... never seem to hit higher then 64. Even after 30 minutes of playing.
