I have tried to get my hard drive working on two brand new intel motherboards. When the hard drive is plugged into the ide ports it will not power up but if i unplug the cable it will?? Anyone have any ideas i am wracking my brain here and i built 7 of these already jsut confused on if i am missing something...

Check all the pins on the hard drive if one of them is slightly bent or not making full contact it can cause the drive not to spin up. Also just like SirKenin was saying the drive could be bad as well how old is it? If its still under warranty send it in. If its somewhat new check on the manufacturers site and see if its still under warranty with them.
