In that case, you just simply plug it in, no extra power or anything to worry about

returning the ram?

Is it possible?

A few more things I wanna ask you praetor, if u have have the answer:

- Does it matter which slots I have the ram in? At this point I tried them all, but I figured I would put them both in one set... there's 2 sets of 2 each on my MB.

- I just realized that I MAY have accidentally been running the computer for about 20 seconds with a cord preventing the CPU heatsink fan from moving... do u think i may have damaged the CPU like that?

- I have no speakers hooked up to my computer... where would this "beep" come from? The MB????

- Returning the ram is dependent on the store you got it from
- If you're troubleshooting, you should only have 1 stick of ram in (i.e., less sticks = less complications). It goes in dimm_1
- Your chip should be ok
- The beep comes from the speaker connected to the mobo

Well, if it's a small store you might be able to cajole a couple staff to help you out (so long as they arent busy) ... that'll save you some effort ... most stores with technicians willl have spare parts lying around
