Default First time upgrading. Motherboard, cpu, memory

OK, i'm upgrading my PC and i'm a bit lost on finding things compatible with my pc... My plan is to upgrade my motherboard and cpu and memory, but i wasnt sure if my current memory was compatible..

i currently have:

Dell Dimension 5150

Motherboard Make Dell Inc.

Motherboard Model 0WG261

Processor Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz

and two 512 MB PC2-3200/4200 DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs

I was looking at this motherboard:

MSI P965Neo-F(full featured PCIe x16 &DDR-2 Motherboard) w/Pentium D 2.8 Ghz / 2MB cache Duel core processor, Generic CPU cooling fan/heatsink included

the motherboard has 4 DDR2 slots and i was wondering if i could just keep my two 512 MB DDR2's and add a 1GB for 2 GB ram? and is there anything else i should look at for compatibility issues before buying the new MB and Processor and memory such as my videocard (ATI Radeon X600(for now))? suggestions? is it a good upgrade?

My PC is used for videogames, movies, music, imaging and 3-d modeling, and i tend to multitask......a lot.
