Default Flash 8 Download problem

Hello

Sorry should be Flash 9 not 8. Flash 9 is giving me much trouble. How does Adobe get away with this?

Sometime this summer something happend to my flash software. All of a sudden I am not able to display the flash contents of web sites and explorer is asking to install flash. I say ok but it does not load good. I go to the Adobe download site and try to down load to there but it does not install correctly. In place of the completion flash video I get a " sign. I have done several of the "fixes" from Adobe's website in cluding one trouble report that specificaly mentions the " sign in plave of the good download message. Have used Adobes official uninstaller with no luck. Have tried several other things listed.

I see a bunch of complaints about this including on Adobe discussion forums. Does not seem to be a simple way to fix this? I am about to just reload my whole computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Have A Sony VIO XP SP 2 IE 6.0.

Thanks for any help.

I think you may have changed a setting in internet explorer itself, but I don't know where it would be. Try downloading firefox and see if flash works on there. Or download IE7 and see if it works.

I had considered that but have seen in many of the other forum posts that those that tried that it did not fix the problem. I might try it anyways later.

On the Microsort Discussion Groups page there is a post with a download that will download an exe file to install Flash 8. My problem with it is this a third party download? I am very leery of doing that. Does this link ring any bells?

This is not on Adobes download page anywhere.

Thanks

John
