Default Hiw much does memory speed mean toward gaming

I can't find any really high speed memory motherboards, the ones i'm thinking about buying have ok speed (667 mhz) with 16 gigs of memry available, but I can only find motherboards that go up to 800 mhz, and they ae only for top of the line processors, yet I've seen the memopry cards that go to 1000 mhz (pc8000), how much does all this memry really mean towards gaming? will the memory I'm getting 667 mhz by 16 gigs be enough?
