Default Pc Boots, no display

After finishing my install, i booted up for the first time, it boots fine but the monitor doesnt display anything.

The motherboard has 4 diagnostic lights on. All are on which show :

VGA detected, dram detected, cpu detected, system startup. So i didnt see any problem there.

There is no beep at startup.

Any ideas what i may have missed?

Thanks
Mike

Is the video card properly installed? Is the VGA cable connected? Is the fan spinning on the video card? (if applicable) Is your monitor turned on?

I believe the card is installed properly (the light on the mobo indicates this?) the vga cable is connected properly, the card doesnt have a fan on and the monitors light goes from green to orange on startup.

Does it make a difference there was no beep when i powered on?

I remember when I bought a new video card a while ago I connected both the VGA and DVI connections, my new monitor supported both and came with both cables as well. A button on the monitor enables a person to switch back and forth. Well I switched it to analog and it poped up,it was black in Digital mode, in the wrong resolution and it looked like shit but I went into the display configuration and changed it over. Now I see things on my computer. :-) Maybe you have a similar problem.

If not, I got to type a little...

well i have tried it with two monitors (one lcd and one old monitor) and both just show no picture with the orange light on. Thank you for your input anyway though.

Would it be worth me trying the graphics card in the other PCI-E slot or is it nothing to do with the card as i dont have the beep at startup, is it something else?

Thanks
Mike

the motherboard im using is a lanparty ut nf4 sli-d.

When you say pull the memory out, do you mean pull it out and power on and see if it beeps? or pull it out and replace it?

if you meant pull it out and replace it, i did that already. Im using dual channel ocz memory on channels 2 and 4, would this make any difference?

Thanks
Mike

Sorry, I killed that post. I thought I misunderstood you. Let me start over again. Did you try reseating the VGA? And have you tried a different VGA? Having troubles thinking on 4 hours sleep. Gah. I'll get back to this later.

I know a common problem with OCZ is that it operates at a higher voltage than other RAM and your MOBO most likely has default setting to a lower voltage if it is not supported. If you can enter BIOS and manipulate this, I would try.

Of course you will want to check to see if this is the case. I would check online to see what the operating voltage is for your memory and than see if your MOBO even supports it. You will more than likely be unable to use/see anything if this is the case. At least from my understanding of similar incidents.

i cant get into the bios as i cant see anything on the screen to access it, but on the motherboard there is a jumper that allows you to expand the DRAM's voltage to 4V, would it be worth giving this a try and if i doesnt make a difference, change it back?
