I was just giving you an example to work from. That board is relatively cheap yet still supports conroe, just not the overclocking of a DS3 or others. Basically whatever your budget is, go for the best stuff you can get. You can even wait and see things go on sale. Like right now the 7600GT from BFG is on sale, killer deal for 115 bucks. Might be able to catch an X1800XT or a 7900gs on sale for a good deal like that before you buy.

It's really up to you lol. As long as everythign is compatible. Just do some reading. Make sure you get good ram though..it seems that Conroe boards are a bit picky about voltages and such. One reason you never have trouble with Corsair ram.

If you are planning on overclocking, I'd suggest getting some DDR2 800 memory instead of the DDR2 667 that you are planning on.

You also don't include a graphics card in that build.. like Saurian said, the 7600GT is a good deal, or another option would be the X850XT, which is a great card.

How much left do you have in your budget? Also post your final list so we can check it again.

The E6300 will CREAM that AMD processor, and I am NOT a fanboy.

Tomshardware.com CPU charts

(comparing a AMD 3200+ that is roughly the same to an E6400, which will be slow compared to an overclocked E6300)
