Default should i start a server?

alright well hello
early next year iam building an expensive pc now should it be a server...? like enlighten me on wha a server is capable of...could i browse the web and lightly game? and like what does it do?

what kind of server are you making, a file server, a game server, a web server...?? what kind... Also, its notusually the hardware that makes a server good (sure it helps a damn lot) but the real thing is your net connection, if your running dial-up its gonna be a pretty crappy server, you would need at least a T1 to operate even a basic commercial server on.

So a bit more info i sneeded on what you actually want to do.

hmm... well itll be an ethernet uh whats more fun to run? iam open to anything but whats fun

and can i use the server as a regular comp?

Yes u can. But all big servers are not used as regular comps. ethernet, hmmmm... all servers are fun. but i think the most fun would ofcourse be a game server.
But for a game server, u really need a great connection, and some serious hardware.

heh ur right...... uhhh well what would you reccomend ? i do cause id like to make a server an easy one to start off with but also have it run as a regular comp so.... and thanks

I'd say you should go for a regular comp. And you could maby make a little filesharing server, for u and your homies.

yeah then maybe a big full tower or server case that supports atx mobo for the extra room and fans

I would just build a normal PC, and if you're into gaming, well then you'll be happy with your new expensive gaming rig. Servers are cool, but what will you do with one anyways?
