Default Quake 4, X800Pro and Vista

I had no problems with this exact same rig and game without Vista (I was using Win XP Pro). Now I have the latest Vista beta ATi drivers and 1.3 patch for the game and the damn game doesn't work.. I get "Error during initialization" when I try to start it, but there are no details.

I also found out that the 3d view in my Catalyst Control Centre is disabled and I can't figure out how to enable it.

I did a search on Google (thank you Mr. Google. Thank you) and found out that the game is in fact compatible with Vista.

Do I need to download the Quakifier Super Deluxe 100 Vista edition turbo or something? Why won't this stupid thing work? Any ideas? I just have no patience for this right now. I haven't played this game in a while because the dumb pets hacked my old copy, and now I'm itching to blow some heads off.

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, not yet. I just installed it though. I haven't had a chance to play it. Are you suggesting that it could be that patch?

Ok, I'll reinstall it tomorrow first and see what happens. I'll let you know.

It works! I reinstalled the game, but without the 1.3 patch, and it runs! I haven't tried any of the display settings yet, and I have no idea what the performance will be, but at least I'm getting somewhere. Thanks

Haha, yeah i believe the 1.3 patch for that game might not of been configured to work correctly with the new vista beta for whatever reason it may be.Good job fixing it though

Hmm.. This sucks. It goes to load a level and all I get is a white screen. I have to use the Task Manager to shut the game down. This sucks. I never had any of these problems with XP. I think I'm going back to it. If all I can do is surf the internet and type letters I don't think I'm really interested. When I sit down at my computer I don't really need hassle right now. I just want to play my damn game.
