Default Lapop Screen

Over the past few weeks when my Laptop gets hot i start getting these weird multi-coloured lines all over the screen, a swift smack on the casing and it goes away.

But it's now starting to get worse, ive had the laptop on barely 30 mins and im getting all the glitches. I sent it off to be repaired as part of my guarantee but they claimed not to find anything wrong. Are screens for a packard bell laptop expensive? Thus explaining their reluctancy to replace the faulty screen.

If a smack makes it go away, it probably is the screen...perhaps simply a short in the cable and not so much a real problem. It might of been as simple as pressing down on the ribbons for the cable to fix it...

But, if it does need to be replaced, I'd definetly just look on ebay for a new one. Usally you can find broken laptops(same model of course) with working screens.

The screen is now getting worse, when I switch it on I get all these random circles and multicoloured lines. I phoned up the company I have my guarantee with and they are going to pick it up Tuesday. But the guy on the phone questioned whether it may be the graphics card which the problem lies.

He said to plug in my desktop computers screen and see if the problem is still there. To save me all the hassle of plugging the screen into my laptop, is it very likely that this could be the problem? Or does the guy not know what he's on about?
