Within the last year, I purchased an HP Pavilion laptop(don't remember which model right now, I'll look at it when I get home) from Costco. About a few months ago, it completely died. It won't do anything. I suspected my AC adapter, but I tried another AC adapter with no luck. Of course, it's still in warranty for a few more months, but during a move, I must have lost my proof of purchase. So, I'm pretty much up a creek. I've had people tell me that it might be the motherboard. I don't understand how this happened. It was always connected to a surge arrestor, it's never been dropped, or had anything spilled on it. I've never even traveled with it. I kept my McAfee up-to-date. One thing I have suspected as the problem is where the AC cord plug-in. It seems pretty loose, like something inside may come unsoldered.
I'm just not sure on what to do next. Since I can't find my proof of purchase, odds are the repair cost will be out of my pocket. If it's any more than $500, I'll just forget about the laptop and get a new desktop system. What might be the problem? How much will it cost? Where should I get it fixed? Thanks! |
