Default Laptop Problem

I have a problem with my Packard Bell Laptop, when i try booting it up, the backard bell screen comes up, then it goes into a system recovery program, there are 2 options saying something like system restore (which lets your store it back to for example a week) and one option saying something like recover back to factory condition........... BUT THE BIG PROBLEM IS IT DOESN'T LET ME CLICK ON THE FIRST OPTION: SYSTEM RESTORE BECAUSE I PROBABLY HAVENT EVEN GOT A SYSTEM RESTORE CHECKPOINT FOR SOME REASON ....... my laptop contains a lot of important data, and i'm not too keen on selecting the second option

Thanks for helping

what the heck does this have to do with anything? Nobody is asking you to help anybody else, just to have a little patience.

Have you got your OS CD? Pop that in and boot from that, run the recovery console and it should restore any missing/corrupt boot up files that are preventing a proper boot up.

If the data is really that inportant, do as Bobo suggested. But mind you, that is NOT cheap...so it better be some pretty important info.
