so, here it goes, I bought a new computer, went on the internet and got a virus, no problem I loaded spybot, ad-adware, and avira. Ran them and deleted everything they found. But i still have something, whenever I turn on my computer I get a prompt to connect to the internet, followed by the "this page is not available offline box." And eventually the computer opens up about 100 ie windows. One of them says something about how norton is not good enough. And the other just closes all the windows after a while. Here is the hijackthis log:

Go to ADD/REMOVE Programs and un-install 'Safety Bar'. Reboot and navigate to C/Program Files and delete the Safety Bar folder if still present.
Go to 'Control Panel/folder options/view' and check 'show hidden files and folders'.While there, UNCHECK 'hide protected operating system files(recommended)'. Click Apply and Okay. Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip to your Desktop. Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Post a copy of that log here. |

Get rid of that Google toolbar while you are at it. Those draw in a lot of browser hijackers and trojan downloaders along with the usual adwares. You may decide that Norton isn't doing sich a great job either. Some less intrusive freewares like AVG, AdAware SE Personal, and Ewido work good together.
For AdAware SE go to http://www.lavasoft.com AVG 7.1 Free antivirus at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 Ewido is a good compliment to AdAware found at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/ewido-an.../lng/us/tpl/v5 |
