Anybody use EL wire? How does it get its power exactly? I've been wondering because I may want to use it since it's really flexible.
Thank you for your help.

EL wire is called EL wire because it satands for ElectroLuminescent, this means you apply power to it and it glows. It has one molex at one end, then its just like a wire, you can route it around anywhere you want it.

nope, nothing else, im sure you could run it at 5v, it might be a bit dimmer.... as long as it doesnt go through an inverter it should be fine at 5v too. So yeh, it does mean if you got an AC to DC converter you could run EL wire out of your mains sockets....

They had a car at a local audio place that had similar lighting, and it looked really nice. And no, it didnt look like a "pimped out" car either

they make EL wire for automotive.
Here it is they don't have he best stuff. You can away mod the normal EL wire to work off your car battery. http://www.vibelights.com/auprauneunca.html |
