so my dad is buying A laptop and he has about $1000 to spend, the choices right now are Lenovo Thinkpad T42 P-M 1.7GHZ 512MB 40GB CDRW-DVD 14.1IN XGA WLAN XPP Notebook http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...o&promoid=1043
$959 and a seanix SI243A-2 intel pentium m 725 (1.6 ghz 2mb cache 400 MHzFSB ) firewire 15.4 inch 3000 pc2-4300 512,b DDR2 sodim ram dvd/cdrw 80gb hd 5400 rpm 8mb video GMA900 comes with computer case windows xp home sp2 ms works 8.8 then all the usual stuff like wireless and onboard speakers and stuff $999 reguler $1350 what would you say is a better or faster computer,

That is extremely over priced. You could get a new Dell, HP, or Acer with better specs then that for around $700.
Go to www.dell.com and you can build your own laptop there.

It depends what he will be doing it for but for business, I would get the Lenovo. You can also check out some reviews about those models at www.pcmag.com and then just search. I know the T40 won their Editor's Choice Award. Oh and by the way, you can't go wrong if you buy a Lenovo Thinkpad for business.

my dad bought a laptop , we went with a toshiba satellite M100 centrino Duo, got it for $749 plus tax, pretty good price considing i live in canada , and was upgraded to 100gb hd and 1 gig of ram..
