Default HL2: Episode One Blank CD?

I just bought HL2: Episode 1 for pc and when i put the cd in, it was reading it for a while then it just stopped. And the light thats normally on when a readable cd is in wasnt on. So i looked under the my computer/cd drive, and there was no files on it. So i re-inserted the disc with Steam open, to see if that would do anything, still nothing.

Did i get ripped? Im taking it back tomorrow.

nvm, figured out it was a DVD-ROM and not CD. Something like that should be put on the box.......I got it figured out now, and for future reference to anyone wanting to buy the game you will need a dvd drive.

Yes but it doesnt say on the box whether its CD or DVD, so i had no way of knowing. I just looked EVERYWHERE on the box, even the small print, it dont say. Which it really should though.

And i just googled it, i didnt see a PC CD version..........i dont think there is.

You can tell if its a DVD by looking at the under side of it.

How could you not even have a DVD-ROM drive? lol

lol. Actually no, i didnt have a DVD drive. Iv never had the need for one, iv always wanted one, but never got around to buying one. I just now ordered a $35 Sony DVD burner, cd burner, and all that good jazz all in one, so it will replace my 24x cd writer.

I borrowed my step-dads external DVD burner to install the game.

Can't you just register the CD-key on Steam and download the files?
