They are both Socket 478. They shouldn't see any problems.

Check in your motherboard manual. It would probably work, but check just to make sure.

Often the board manufacturer will have an extra page describing the different model cpus that will run on a particular model. When assuming the highest that would work on the Socket 939 model here was an AMD FX60 one page with specifications shows supprt for the highest 939 model Opteron cpu with a specific bios update. The support site is one place to start on something like this.

Who gives a shit?

To answer the question, yes, a 533MHz FSB 2.8GHz is supported by that board.

Again you "open mouth insert foot". That was already answered.

But considering some of the stuff that you have posted, it was worth answering again to make sure

And it wasn't answered. "Should" isn't really an answer. At least not a definitive one. "Yes" is a definitive answer.. (BTW, I looked it up on Gigabyte's website, just to make sure. lol. Mr. Google didn't. That's why he said should. He had no bloody idea. He just wanted to tell us his AMD story to make himself sound official).

Oh, can I tell you my Core2Duo story? I promise it'll be good. It will have nothing to do with the topic, but it'll make me sound impressive).
