The only place my mom will let me buy a comp is from rent a center, and they only have cheap brands imo dell, compaq, and hp(which is ther brand I Have now and its a peice of crap and I really dont want to have the same problems again). you could buy a decent one from one of those companies, they all do decent PCs, i personally would stay away from dell, but just because its a brand make doesnt mean its gonna be a sack of shit, and you could buy a TV tuner seperately.....

Save money until you have enough to get your own PC. In the meantime just consider yourself lucky that you have a computer that runs, gets on the internet, etc.

Nobody is going to let you use there credit card unless you can pay them upfront immediately. Because if for some reason you can't make a payment to them and the charge is on there credit card, that's a BAD credit mark for them. No one wants to be put in that situation. I'm a pretty generous guy, and even I wouldn't let my best friend make payments to me while a charge was on my card...having good credit is a pretty serious deal, and can have long term effects over the years. It's even more risky if the person is under 18 and asking you for money...there is really no guarantee even by law that you get the money tht is owed to you after the deal.

what should I do? I can beg somebody I know. I definitely have the money, I just cant pay 3500$ at once, but 300$ a month is no prob. Im 18 and I have a job should I get my own credit card to make the payment?

Just save for a few months, it aint going to kill you. I would HIGHLY suggest not buying anything with a credit card that you don't have the money in cash with you. You will know what I mean if you don't listen to me. Just because you make $300+ a month, doesn't mean you will be able to pay for something thats $300 per month. Things happen which reqiure money and if you can't make a payment, you are screwed. So the answer is no.
Save for a few months and pay upfront.

That doesn't make much sense lol. If you had the necessary money then you should be able to pay $3500 up front.

If you decide to get a credit card, listen to Motorxdude. Have the money already set aside, not just "I PLAN to save this much a month, but I'll SPEND it now." That's what gets you into trouble. One screw up, or late payment....and you're already making a mark on your financial future. You may be denied a car loan/house loan simply because you were a few payments late here and there on small purchases such as this computer or a TV or something un-important. Suddenly, those insignificant things you bought are the only thing between you and your home or your car...much BIGGER and more important purchases.

I guess what I'm saying is...it's worth the wait, don't just rush into getting a credit card because you want a new toy. You're pretty much signing away your life when you start making credit card payments...because you PROMISE to give them your money and they will DEFINETLY get it from you. Something comes up...too bad, you still owe them. And they will do just about anything to get there money.

Either buy a high(er) model of HP or whatever brand you want, which you will be overpaying for, or save your $300 a month for a year or less, and pay for it all at once. Even there, I wouldnt recommend paying $3500 for ONE computer, you can get a very decent gaming machine for around $2000, and then upgrade parts as needed, so you will be able to buy a nice gaming computer, sooner, cheaper.

You can get a pretty nice gaming comp for right around $1,000 and excellent one for about $1500, so save up for a few months and build yourself a nice comp around Christmas.
