Default Dreamweaver Studio

Hello all,

I've been using Dreamweaver for a few years now and I recently learnt how to make connections from php pages to mysql databases via the use of recordsets within Dreamweaver. My question is, is it really a good idea to use recordsets and what not with websites? A friend of mine bought up the point that I may have compatibility issues with newer releases of Dreamweaver in the future if I were to use recordsets with the current version. I have no idea how to manually write the code so that isn't really an option. I would have thought that considering Dreamweaver itself offers those features that they're fine to use right?
