Post CPU Question

Would a change from my Sempron 3200+ to an Athlon 3400+ (or better) CPU improve my gaming experience??? If not, what would be another choice???

to an extent yes, depending on other factors in the rig such as graphics card, but dont expect miracles

yes, the extra cache should help sustain large processing operations... and what games do you play?

AMD is the way to go for gaming, a 3400 should work fine with any game assuming you got a great video card and a least a gig of ram

that's like saying what's better, a celeron 3.06 or a p4 3.2.

I have 512MB PC3200 400MHz, and a BFG 7600 GT OC
I play, doom 3, sin: emergence, and spellforce 2

I'd say getting that memory up to 1Gig would help IMMENSLY. Do you have 2x256MB or 1x512? If its 1x512, a 512 stick of ram is pretty cheap, and if its 2x256MB then going out and buying a gig stick will run you ~100 bucks roughly, depending on the quality you want. Then you might think about finding what your highest supported processor is, and looking for a good bargain.

Sure it will improve. But don't expect a lot unless you're ram and video card have got some head room.

Improve performance? Yes. Worth it? No.

Of course it depends on your budget, but is it a Socket 939 or Socket 754? For Socket 939, it is worth getting a dual core processor like the X2 3800+.
