Thumbs down do i have a reason to be unhappy with this ?

here is my setup that i just finished the other day.....
case: thermaltake armor
board: asus a8n sli premium
psu: ocz 520 modstream
cpu: athlon 64 3500+
gfx: bfg tech 7600 gt oc
ram: 1 gb of i forgot....
hd: 120 gig non sata
and lots of fans and glowing crap.....

anyway im not happy at all with the preformance for gaming and multitasking. frankly it sux. i bearly get good fps in dod source (30-50 in an open area on high settings) its just unplayable. and as far as the multi tasking... i cant do too much. have i done something wrong other than potentially buying crap hardware? is there settings that need fooled with? ive already overclocked the vid card using coolbits.... nothing to the cpu. y does this suck? im soooo unhappy

That set-up shouldn't be bad; however, the gaming performance may actually be a CPU bottleneck issue. You might want to upgrade to a better proc. Currently, between the new AMD Socket AM2 boards and Core 2 Duo, you can find great deals on AMD 64 X2s and AMD FX processors (actually, there might be a guy from these boards selling an FX-57 on ebay soon). These should help givce you a boost in performance.

If you still feel like your gaming is lacking, go for the SLI; you've go the MOB and a decent card, install a second and you should definately see a difference. Howevr, just going SLI without upping your proc might not give as much of a boost as desired, since it is likely that your 64 3500+ wpuld be causing a serious bottleneck...

Get an X2, maybe a 4400+ or a 4600+. When did you get/build this?

I would consider overclocking that CPU, if it is the Athlon 64 with a Venice core, you should be able to get a nice OC on it.

Are you trying to multitask while playing DoD? I havent played DoD so I'm not sure how much of a burden in puts on a system but I get decent performance in many games with my setup which is slightly lower than yours though my CPU is OCd much higher. I suggest running 3DMark05 and posting here to see if its around the level it should be. I see no reason that that system wouldnt be a nice rig.

No, it's the other way around. The VGA bottlenecks the CPU.
