Can a Win98SE network to a computer with XP. I am networked wireless, the XP can see my shared folder, but the 98 can not see the XP computer at all. The best I know it saw the XP at the first, but not now. Is there anything to try to get it to work?

I'm almost certain you can install windows 98 formated with NTFS, so NTFS shouldn't be a problem.
I think I read the orginal post wrong, he said the 98 computer already had files shared. Maybe your XP computer has a firewall, but that wouldn't explain being able to read the 98's computer. |

Well with all the things I have tried, something has worked. Looks like the xp firewall was part to blame, we turned it off again, we had tried this before, and it worked. Turned it back on and in a little while I could not see the xp again, so we added the trusted ip range and it has been working for over one hour.
thanks for all of the help dh |

After the computers are connected whether it is via crossover or a hub or router... you run the home/office network wizard on the XP machine. Then you either make a floppy, cd or use your XP CD and put it in the 98SE machine. In the main menu select "Perform additional tasks" then "setup a home or small office network" and use the same settings and workgroup name. I have Windows Firewall on. In the exceptions tab File and Printer Sharing is checked.
